On Saturday 5 December 2020, the Plart Foundation participates in the XVI Edition of the Day of the Contemporary promoted by AMACI.
Due to the current health emergency, this year the traditional event features some changes in date, December and not October as usual, and in format, which will be hybrid with online and offline initiatives.
For the online mode, the Plart Foundation offers a short video of the installation Into the wood under the night sky by the artists Marcello Cinque and Valentina Daga, former protagonist of NAJM. Stars, terraces, courtyards and gardens, a project that was born in the context of the COVID-19 emergency, opening up to the enjoyment of art in alternative places to the usual closed spaces. The video will be available on the social media channels of AMACI and the Plart Foundation following the hashtag #giornatadelcontemporaneo.
The Plart Foundation, however, if the health conditions allow it, also wishes to guarantee an in-person event by giving the opportunity to visit the installation from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on December 5 at the 104 Costantinopoli Hotel in 104 Santa Maria di Costantinopoli in Naples.
Into the wood under the night sky is a poetic and sophisticated installation between art, design and architecture, which stands in the open space that surrounds it harmoniously. It was born from the collaboration of two artists, Marcello Cinque and Valentina Daga, who here combine their respective peculiarities to give life to a work that encompasses heaven and earth. Marcello Cinque is the author of the column-trees that support the ultramarine blue roof on which Valentina Daga affixes her celestial composition. To the observer’s gaze, Into the wood under the night sky looks like a sort of celestial pantheon that strikes for the contrast between the perfection of the vault and the irregularity of the five columns supporting it, made up of drums that seem precarious but, instead, support the perfect shape of the starry disk. This contrast alludes to the duality of reality also through the use of opposing materials: clean aluminum on one side, very material clay on the other. The processing is also opposite: the hand-forged clay and the aluminum cut with precision machinery. The installation, which can be physically crossed by the visitor, is an invitation to embark on a journey of knowledge and awareness to explore the beyond, towards a social change now more necessary than ever.

In order to comply with the COVID-19 regulations, access to the event will be granted only upon reservation, by sending an email to: info@plart.it
