The future of the Contemporary. Conservation and restoration of design
Organised by Giovanna Cassese, Antonella Russo, Alice Hansen
An international study conference on the themes of conservation and restoration of design, The future of the Contemporary. Conservation and restoration of design, was held for the first time in Italy on May 15 and 16, under the patronage of MIUR, MIBACT, CNR, IGIIC and the Italian Chemical Society.
The two-day debate between great design historians, exponents of national and international museums, gallery owners, chemists, conservators, diagnosticians, restorers and restoration teachers, were an important occasion for interdisciplinary reflection and exchange of ideas and scientific results between national and international experts operating in the field. Why restore design? What stage has research reached in Italy and abroad? What changes compared to the canons of the traditional restoration of works of art? These are some of the questions that were raised during the conference.
The proceedings were published by Gangemi Publishers.
