The Department of Conservation and Research of the Plart Museum has completed Re.Co.Plart, a study, conservation and restoration project carried out on a selection of design objects and works of art from the Museum’s Historical Collection, in collaboration with the Sapienza University of Rome, the SMATCH Association and thanks to the contribution of the Campania Region. The objects were selected on the basis of three parameters deemed of fundamental importance such as the historical – artistic relevance, their state of conservation and the type of materials.
Among the objects subject to documentation, scientific, historical-artistic investigations and restoration we mention the famous Fiocco chair made by Gruppo G14 for Busnelli in 1970 in a very light elastic mesh in polyester and tubular metal, the Ufo lamp designed by Ettore Sottsass for Arredoluce in 1957, in polymethylmethacrylate and metal, and the multiple in polyethylene terephthalate (PET) with inclusions made by the artist Enrico Baj in 1965.
